October’s skies are less dramatic and maybe some of the most supportive we’ll get this year. October 2025 astrology focuses on balance and truth.
Venus in Virgo will be conjunct the South Node on October 4 and opposite Saturn on October 11, which could bring painful but necessary reckonings with the heart. It may be all too apparent where and with whom we’re currently lacking fulfillment, and this is good time for cleaning house.
Venus in Libra forms an aspect with Jupiter in Cancer, bringing us some good vibes. This is a time for romance and a brief but sweet season of peak arts and culture enjoyment.
With the Full Moon in Aries on October 6, we feel the need to balance our own personal needs with others’. Mercury also enters Scorpio today, encouraging deeper, more honest communication and investigation. Mercury will be a companion for Mars from October 6 through 29, helping us cut through anything that’s standing in the way of our progress or the truth.
On October 13, Venus enters Libra, shining a spotlight on love, aesthetics, and harmony in relationships. Pluto also stations direct in Aquarius today, pushing forward changes in power and control.
On October 20, Mercury conjuncts Mars in Scorpio, intensifying conversations, fueling passionate exchanges, and potentially provocation. This builds on the earlier October 7th Mercury-Pluto square, which brought hidden motives and long-buried truths to light.
On October 21, the New Moon in Libra offers a fresh start for relationships, negotiations, contracts, and aesthetics. With the Sun in Libra and then the New Moon in Libra, the focus is on finding balance in relationships and pursuing justice and peace as well as depth and transformation.
On October 22, the Sun enters Scorpio, bringing depth, intensity, and focus on transforming core issues. Neptune retrograde reenters Pisces, bringing dreams, spirituality, imagination, and collective experience back into focus.

Mars will be in a trine with Jupiter on October 28 and a trine with Saturn the next day. We can achieve a lot under this influence. This is a Mars for staying motivated, keeping your eye on the prize, and staying the course until you taste victory (or at the very least, cross the finish line).
On October 29, Mercury enters Sagittarius, shifting the focus to broader perspectives, philosophical discussions, and the shaping of beliefs. Mercury in Sagittarius promotes raw, vulnerable conversations and the broadening of our understanding of the world through communication and truth. Spirituality and imagination returns with Neptune's re-entry into Pisces and may stir creativity, and vivid dreams.
Samhain and Halloween
Samhain is a Gaelic festival on 1 November marking the end of the harvest season and beginning of winter or the darker half of the year, ushering in the Celtic New Year. It is also the Irish and Scottish Gaelic name for November. Celebrations begin on the evening of 31 October, since the Celtic day began and ended at sunset.
This is the time when the veil between the living and the spirit world is thinner, allowing spirits, fairies, and other otherworldly beings, known as the Aos Sí, to cross over. To protect themselves from mischievous spirits and honor the dead, Celts lit bonfires, made offerings of food and drink, and wore masks and costumes to avoid recognition. The holiday also involved feasts, music, and honoring ancestors, with rituals like setting a place at the table for deceased family members and sharing stories to keep their memory alive.
It is a liminal time where the boundaries between the physical world and the Otherworld are fragile. The veil between the world of the living and the dead is at its thinnest during Samhain. This allows spirits, ancestors, and supernatural beings to move freely between the two worlds. Food and drink are offered to the spirits to appease them and prevent them from causing mischief. Feasting was a central part of the celebration, with gatherings of families and clans.
People wear masks and costumes made from natural materials like wood, straw, and animal skins to disguise themselves from wandering spirits and fairies. This practice evolved from the fear of being recognized by the Aos Sí.
The thin veil between worlds also allows for more direct communication with the spiritual realm, and some traditions involve opening doors or windows to invite ancestors to visit. The liminal nature of Samhain made it a potent time for divination and seeking omens for the year ahead. Sharing stories of the deceased and the past year was a cherished custom, believed to keep their memories alive.
The Witch House in Salem, Massachusetts, also known as the Jonathan Corwin House. It is the only remaining structure with direct ties to the Salem Witch Trials of 1692.
