August 2025

August 2025

August 2025 brings a powerful blend of introspection and transformation, as major planetary movements stir both inner and outer shifts. With the Sun moving through bold Leo and into practical Virgo, this month starts with vibrant, expressive energy and gradually shifts toward organization and healing. A full moon in Aquarius on August 9 highlights themes of freedom, community, and emotional detachment, while the new moon in Virgo on August 23 offers a clean slate for grounding intentions in health, service, and practical improvement. This is a month for balancing heart and mind, passion and purpose, creativity and clarity.

Mars Enters Libra

On August 6th, Mars enters Libra where it will transit until September 22. This can bring a tremendous amount of attention to partnerships of all kinds, but it can also cause tensions to rise. Unfortunately, Mars is in its detriment in Libra, so it may be harder to access Mars energy and we may become more passive-aggressive rather than direct.

Mars Trines Uranus and Opposes Saturn

On August 8th, Mars trines Uranus and then opposes Saturn. We may feel the urge to pursue adventure, passion, and excitement. This is a great time to step outside of our comfort zones. Mars in opposition with Saturn can create stop and go energy as we face conflicts, challenges, or roadblocks. The best way to harness this energy in a positive way is to do your best to rededicate yourself to long-term goals.

Full Moon in Aquarius

On August 9th, the Full Sturgeon Moon occurs in Aquarius, awakening us to the need for others or to the need for humanitarianism. This lunation reminds us of our need for friendship and community, as well as impartiality and objectivity. Try not to lose sight of our larger goals and our need to give back to the community or group that supports us.

Because this lunation occurs on the same day and around the same time Mars in Libra opposes Saturn and Neptune in Aries, there can be some tension. A quest for more meaningfulness in our pursuits can be behind some of our stress. We could be called to choose to sacrifice something for a cause or a better future. It can be hard to rise to challenges. We can feel depleted until we find inspiration and have a plan to work toward our goals. We could find illusion, delusion, deception, and smokescreens. This is not a time to put yourself at risk with shady people or in regard to your health.

This Full Moon also occurs with Venus conjunct Jupiter, offering promise and hope. The desire to enjoy ourselves or grow our relationships can be motivational. We have a strong need for love and affection now.

Mars Trine Pluto

On August 10th, Mars trines Pluto and giving us passionate energy to pursue personal or professional goals. Focus on something you wish to conquer.

Mercury Turns Direct

On August 11th, Mercury turns direct after several weeks in retrograde. This retrograde cycle began on July 18th midway its transit through Leo. It’s been a time for reviewing our creative or recreational pursuits and we have learned to look at projects, items, situations, problems, and people in new ways. There can be miscommunications that push this new perspective making us more resourceful and creative. Information begins to flow more freely when Mercury turns direct. Mercury will emerge from its post-retrograde shadow on August 25th.

Saturn Sextile Uranus

On August 11th, Saturn forms a sextile with Uranus. It’s a time when we’re more likely to be doing what we enjoy and enjoying what we do. Things occurring now build character and life lessons are easy. It’s a period of solid, meaningful progress. This can be a time to strengthen connections, bond with allies, and work on the foundations of our lives. The changes we make can have long-lasting benefits. Original ideas may take form and develop successfully. There is an opportunity to combine stability and excitement with good results along with innovation and tradition.

Venus Conjunct Jupiter

Also on August 11th, Venus forms a conjunction with Jupiter. Prepare for indulgence and hedonism! This day is one of the best days for romance, pleasure, art, and beauty. Don’t let this day go to waste! Plan something extra special!

Mercury Sextile Mars

On August 17th, Mercury sextiles Mars. Get ready for an action-packed day! The energy of the day can help us communicate with more power or passion. We could be feeling more social, to communicate, or for some quick travel. Connections with close friends, siblings, or neighbors may be helpful to you now.

The Sun enters Virgo

On August 22, the Sun enters Virgo kicking off Virgo season. The month ahead can help us with productivity, health, and employment.

New Moon in Virgo

On August 23rd, the New Moon occurs in Virgo, bringing a fresh start and a clean slate. This lunation encourages us to begin anew and gives us opportunities to take charge of our lives by organizing, editing, and paying better attention to our health. It’s a fertile and productive time. We’re ready to take charge of our routines, work, and our wellness.

We’re experiencing a period with potential for raised consciousness as Pluto forms a sextile with Saturn and Neptune, and then forms a sextile with Uranus. This New Moon is in challenging aspect to this powerful configuration, which can jolt us back into the need to attend to our work and a routine.

Sun Square Uranus

On  August 24th, the Sun forms a square with Uranus. Prepare for some chaos from the universe now. With our life force, the Sun, clashing with Uranus, the planet of the unknown, we may notice that today brings the unexpected. The best thing to do is to be inconspicuous.

Venus enters Leo and Trines Saturn

On  August 25th, Venus enters Leo and then trines Saturn. Venus in Leo is one of the best transits to fall in love. Creativity is also amplified, so connect with your sense of joy. Venus’s trine with Saturn can bring more stability, security, and strength to relationships.

On August 26th, Venus sextiles Uranus, trines Neptune, and Venus opposes Pluto. Venus sextile Uranus brings excitement, surprises, and adrenaline to our hearts and relationships. Soulmate energy could be right around the corner, as Venus trines Neptune. This is perfect energy for connecting with intimacy, art, beauty, and true love. However, Venus opposite Pluto can trigger jealousy, manipulation, victimization, or power struggles. Rather than engaging with that darker energy, transmute it into an opportunity to release your fears and be reborn.

Uranus Sextile Neptune

On August 28th, Uranus forms a sextile with Neptune and everything is illuminated. It’s a time of more openness to alternative ways of living, believing, and expression. We’re receptive to different or unusual experiences and ideas.

At the same time, we’re opposed to any form of forced spirituality or belief systems, and instead prefer freedom to follow our intuition. It’s a time to reform and update how we express compassion, care for the underprivileged, pursue our dreams, seek escapes, and do art and creativity. However, we can also be more sensitive to stimulants.

Uranus and Neptune can bring visionary ideas, creativity, and spirituality to the human collective. While the energy peaks on August 28, we can still access it for weeks before and after. This is a beautiful time to align with divinity and your higher self.

August brings major opportunities to our lives, both personally and professionally, so listen to the magic echoing within your heart.

Three Big Astronomy Events in August Sky

A trio of astronomical events will unfold in August, including the famed Persied meteor shower and a must-see early morning gathering of planets.

Full Moon

The final full moon of meteorological summer, which spans June through August, will rise Friday, Aug. 8, into Saturday, Aug. 9. August's full moon is known as the Sturgeon Moon, after the large fish once found in abundance in the Great Lakes and in Lake Champlain, according to the Old Farmer's Almanac. The nickname can be traced back to Captain Jonathan Carver, who learned the phrase while traveling in the 1760s.

Jupiter-Venus Conjunction

Two of the brightest planets in the night sky will shine side-by-side in a conjunction on Tuesday, Aug. 12. The pre-dawn event does not require a telescope, just a clear view of the eastern sky. The pair will rise after 3 a.m., local time, but will be best seen between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m., appearing about as far apart as the width of a pinky finger held at arm’s length.

The Perseid Meteor Shower

The Perseid meteor shower is often touted as the best meteor shower of the year, in part due to the warm weather ideal for stargazing. This year, it will peak on the night of Tuesday, Aug. 12, into the early morning of Wednesday, Aug. 13, but moonlight from the waning gibbous moon will severely compromise the shower at the time of maximum activity. Such conditions will reduce activity by at least 75 percent as only the brighter meteors will be visible," the American Meteor Society explained on its website.  Instead of 60 to 100 shooting stars per hour, you might only count between 10 and 20 per hour.

Focus on darker areas of the sky where the moon is out of sight for the best chance at spotting some meteors. You may see some shooting stars not long after nightfall, but the best part of the celestial light show is expected later in the night.

Lions Gate Portal

The Lions Gate Portal is an annual astrological event occurring between July 26th and an August 12th, peaking on August 8th, when the star Sirius aligns with the Sun in Leo and the Earth. This alignment creates a powerful energetic gateway for manifestation, spiritual awakening, and personal transformation. During this period, heightened energy allows us to connect with our higher selves and manifest desires more effectively.

Sirius, brightest star in the sky, is often associated with spirituality and higher aspirations. The Sun's presence in Leo amplifies the energy of boldness, confidence, and creativity. The alignment of Sirius and the Sun in Leo opens a pathway for increased energy flow between the spiritual and physical realms.

The date 8/8 is considered powerful day in numerology, with the number 8 symbolizing infinity, good fortune, and abundance. The Lion's Gate Portal is associated with manifestation. To help harness the portal’s energy, set clear intentions, meditate, write in your journal, create vision boards, and engage in creative activities.
