Last month’s New Moon Solar Eclipse in Aries on March 29th will influence the month of April. It was the final one of a set of six eclipses along the Aries-Libra axis. This Solar eclipse highlights and challenges our issues around independence and courage. We may feel prompted to take steps towards self-empowerment by tackling things that undermine us. Circumstances encourage us to see where we haven’t been true to our authentic selves, and it’s a final push to correct imbalances.
On April 4th, Saturn forms a sextile with Uranus. This is the first of three alignments; the next two will occur on August 11th, 2025, and then on January 20th, 2026. It’s a time when we’re more likely to be doing what we enjoy, and enjoying what we do, mostly related to career, work, and our life path, but extending to other areas of life as well. Events occurring now build character and it’s a period of solid, meaningful progress. This can be a time to solidify connections and work on the primary structures of our lives. The changes we make can have long-lasting benefits. Original ideas may take form or develop successfully now. There is an opportunity to combine stability and improvement, excitement with good results, or innovation and tradition.
On April 7th, Mercury stations and turns direct after a retrograde cycle since March 15th. While Mercury is retrograde, we are reviewing our dreams, ideals, downtime, and humanitarian goals. We may be looking at projects, items, situations, problems, and people in new ways. Having both Venus and Mercury retrograde in the signs of Aries and Pisces is notable. Also note that Mercury returned to Pisces on March 29th. In a general sense, retrograde Mercury periods send us to the past for more or previously hidden information. They’re cycles for learning to let go of control and for thinking about issues in a new way. Information will flow more freely from April 7th onward.
On April 12th, a Full Moon occurs in Libra. It brings sudden awareness to our lives, especially for the need to improve and enhance our relationships. Something is exposed or illuminated, prompting us to get in touch with those things or feelings that we may have been neglecting or putting off. Relationship imbalances and flaws are much more obvious now. We can feel inspired to make improvements and come up with excellent strategies now.
The Full Moon in Libra awakens us to our feelings, particularly about relationships and social exchanges. It’s an emotional time, and the Venus station and the Moon’s square to Mars can highlight some confusion or impatience surrounding our revelations.
Also on April 12th, Venus stations and turns direct. Until the 12th, retrograde Venus affects us mainly in the areas of love and finances, but also extends to some areas of business and pleasure. These matters are not straightforward during this period. It’s a time for reviewing our attitudes and attachments rather than pursuing new love relationships or financial projects. Old friends and lovers may reappear and may complicate current relationships. We could be reminiscing about the past or there may be a need to deal with relationship issues from the past. It can be a challenge getting closer to a lover during this period. Unorthodox, experimental, and non-intimate relationships may be stronger. From April 12th, forward, slowly but surely, more clarity comes in the areas of love, finances, personal enjoyment, and pleasurable pursuits.
On April 27th, the New Moon occurs in Taurus, signaling a new beginning. This lunation brings a fresh start to our lives, awakening our need to take charge, especially around making ourselves feel more secure and comfortable. It’s a time for reevaluating our relationship with money and possessions to discover what it is that we truly value and genuinely makes us happy and fulfilled. Our focus should be on what we can do to improve our self worth and simplify our lives. This is a time for reconnecting with nature, our bodies, and the world of our five senses. Creative ways of seeing, using, and approaching our personal possessions, valuables, money, and talents are in focus. This lunation has a lot of healing potential.
Taurus New Moons are good for getting back in touch with simple and physical pleasures, like savoring good food and enjoying activities that bring us in touch with nature and with our bodies. It’s time to become more aware of what makes us feel comfortable and secure. We are challenged to be more sensible and maybe conservative in our approach, but also open to making fundamental changes. We are also challenged to follow through on projects or situations that we may have abandoned. We may be dealing with stubbornness, however, it’s an excellent time for connecting with our bodies and with nature through earthy activities, as well as appreciating what we already have.
Easter
Easter in 2025 will be on Sunday, April 20. This is one of the latest dates for Easter in recent memory. Easter is late in 2025 because it's determined by the first Sunday after the full moon that follows the spring equinox on March 20, and that full moon occurs on April 12.
Easter is calculated based on the lunar cycle of the Jewish calendar, specifically the first full moon after the spring equinox. The full moon that occurs on or after the spring equinox is called the Paschal full moon. Easter Sunday is always the first Sunday after the Paschal full moon. Since the first full moon after the spring equinox in 2025 is on April 12, Easter Sunday falls on the following Sunday, April 20.
Easter is one of the most significant days in Christianity, marking the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is observed by millions worldwide.
